SEVAN BICAKCI: "Lord of the Rings"

The Couture Design Awards, the signature event of the Couture Show, exists to recognize the world’s most visionary designers, uncover new and emerging talent, and promote the appreciation of jewelry and timepiece design worldwide.

The Couture Design Awards Ceremony took place at Wynn’s most distinguished hotel, Encore, in Las Vegas on Saturday, May 30, 2009 in front of an audience of more than 450 members of the Jewelry community including retailers, exhibiting designers, and press.

Surprise guest and celebrity stylist, Rachel Zoe of "The Rachel Zoe Project" on Bravo TV, opened the evening’s festivities.

The evening ceremony for Couture Design Awards 2009 brought nearly three weeks of competition to a close.

More than 10,000 votes were cast online during the first round of voting from May 13 to May 22.

The online voting process narrowed the field of nominees to three in each of the 13 categories for a total of 39 finalists, who were unveiled on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the Couture 2009 Welcome Reception hosted by Jill Zarin from The Real Housewives of New York City.

Couture Design Awards 2009 Winners

Sevan Biçakci took Best of Men’s Jewelry for a pair of cufflinks in rose and yellow gold and sterling silver, set with black diamonds and featuring two paintings by Hasan Kale portraying Istanbul’s Bosphorus and the Marmara Sea with a galleon and one of the Prince Islands.

Exotic spice bazaars, majestic mosques, fairy tale like minarets and imposing Sultans. Istanbul, the only city in the world which has reigned as capital of three different empires, is without a doubt the greatest muse for the man known in the fine jewelry industry as “Lord of the Rings.”

Born and raised in Turkey, one of a kind jewelry designer Sevan has been a bench jeweler for the last twenty years—and at the age of 36, Sevan’s creations are profound and unique.

Each one is handcrafted from 24K, 18K yellow and rose gold, sterling silver with uniquely cut gemstones and antique cut diamonds that are inspired by the Blue Mosque from 17th century, the 6th century Hagia Sophia Church, the Topkapi Palace from 15th century and many childhood memories.

Sevan Bicakci is the recipient of a string of prestigious awards, including the Tanzanite Foundation Award for Best Independent Designer of 2007. Sevan has also won the  Town & Country Couture Awards over the last three years including the 2008 Town & Country Couture Gemstone Award.

3D Jewelry for men's by Atoms

Bits to Atoms is a range of bespoke men's jewelry produced using additive manufacturing techniques whereby each piece is laser sintered together particle by particle, layer by layer. Available in Black or Transparent Acrylic based photopolymer, each piece has a unique layered, felt-like texture from the production process. Bronze infused Stainless Steel & Alumide pieces have a tessellated slightly pitted texture. All jewelry is designed in Australia using parametric 3D modeling software then 3D printed in the Netherlands to order.

An intricate stainless steel pendant featuring a network of intricate veins that radiate from its center. The pattern was grown in our computer simulation of leaf venation and etched from a sheet of stainless steel. The necklace comes with an 18" sterling silverchain.

Reticulate, meaning net-like, describes the complex branching patterns that govern the veins in leaves of most flowering plants. Tiny tertiary veins interconnect the thick primary and secondary ones to create a redundant system for the transportation of water, sugars, and nutrients.

This necklace is available in unfinished stainless steel or stainless steel plated with black chromium (nickel-free). Please specify which finish you would like in the comment box when you order. If none is specified, you will receive a stainless steel necklace.

MATERIAL
- stainless steel with sterling silver chain OR
- black chromium plated stainless steel with oxidized sterling silver chain

Thin curves radiate from a central root to form an expansive network in this striking stainless steel pendant plated with 24kt gold. The pendant hangs from an 18" gold fill chain.

The piece is a part of our Algae line, a collection of computer generated branching forms that explores the cycles of growth and bifurcation seen in plants.

Construction : Raw brass cuff. Casts of two Victorian era keyholes in bronze oxidized and soldered. Key holes were cut out with a coping saw. You can see through both.
Original hand carved small wren soldered to antique salvaged clock gear skull cast in bronze and soldered to cuff. The bird skull was set with two 6mm AA grade deep red Orissa garnets.
Cuff is 1 1/2 inches wide.3.8 cm It is comfortable on a wrist up to 7 inches around 17.8 cm.

This is an original street design I have been making for about four years. This is a limited edition as they are a lot of handwork and I don't intend to make many of them.
The piece is done in brass and given a archival wax treatment on the inside. I will provide you with care and cleaning instruction.
The cuff will tarnish and patina in really nicely if don't polish it. Burners, alkaline in the playa dust did great things to mine.

Jewelry for men's

Men have been wearing jewelry at least as long as women, of course, but usually for different reasons. Whereas women’s jewelry is meant to adorn and enhance the wearer’s beauty, men’s jewelry has traditionally been worn as a status symbol, badge of rank, or even in recognition of achievement.

When it comes to men’s wedding bands, there are several options available, but few consist of the plain gold band of yesteryear.

Popular motifs include Celtic knot work patterns, Greek key designs, Arabic geometric patters and even abstract designs. Often, these can be engraved.
What is the difference between men’s diamond rings and a diamond wedding band? Not much; men’s wedding rings can fall into either category.

Generally, a diamond wedding band does not have a large gem, prominently mounted, but does have small diamonds embedded in the surface.
